How to Pray for Steve Lawson ?

The news about Steve Lawson has saddened people everywhere. Sin always causes hurt—not only to the individual but also to their family, congregation, and well-wishers.

The first thing to understand is that no human being is sinless (perfect) on this earth. Can Steve Lawson fall into sin? That should not surprise us. We must guard against harboring hatred toward him because, as we look through the Bible, we see that no person has lived a sinless life. Everyone has fallen short in some way.

This is not to excuse sin, but rather to acknowledge that no one is righteous on their own (Romans 3:10). Even a born-again believer struggles with sin every day (Galatians 5:13-18). Until we are free from sin—until we enter glorification—believers must wrestle with sin daily as they live out their sanctification, relying on God's grace.

That’s why Paul urges us to put on the armor of God for our daily spiritual battles. These are the weapons God has provided for every believer while living on this earth, by which we can overcome Satan’s temptations and tricks and protect ourselves from sinful actions (Ephesians 6:10-18).

Now, let us pray for Steve Lawson, his family, and his church:

  1. Pray for Steve Lawson: Let’s ask God to restore Steve, as He used him as a vessel to teach the truth of God’s Word to many. Despite his fall, we should not write him off as if his life and ministry are over. People may criticize him, but God’s forgiveness is always available (1 John 1:9). Pray that Steve repents of his sins and continues to walk with Christ.

  2. Pray for Steve Lawson’s wife and children: It is not easy for his family to forgive him, but pray that they stand with him, helping him seek forgiveness and restore his relationship with God. Pray that his family plays a crucial role in protecting one another from the enemy, who comes to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10).

  3. Pray for Trinity Church: The church is undoubtedly hurt by this situation. But let’s pray that the congregation stands with Steve, offering support and helping him live a life of repentance. May the church play an important role in his spiritual restoration.
